Step 1 – Meet Your PFCLA Physician Virtually

If you haven’t done so already prior to signup, your Intended Parent Relationship Manager will work with the PFCLA front office team to schedule a time for you to meet with your PFCLA physician virtually to discuss any questions you may have about the medical part of your journey. Before the appointment, the front office will ask you to register with PFCLA's secure patient portal nAble, where all clinic communications with you will take place to be in compliance with U.S. healthcare privacy laws. You must register with nAble before your consultation date.

Step 2 – Schedule Your In-Person Medical Screening at PFCLA

Within a working day or two of your signup date with the clinic, your PFCLA Third-Party Admin will reach out via your nAble portal to schedule your in-person medical screening.  For male sperm source(s) this will include a physical exam, sperm collection, and blood draws for FDA-required testing and genetic carrier screening.  You should plan to be in Los Angeles for at least 2 weekdays in case we require an additional sperm sample after the lab team has evaluated the first sample provided. If you haven’t heard from the clinic after a few days, please reach out to your Intended Parent Relationship Manager.

Step 3 – Receive Your Genetic Carrier Screening Results

Approximately 3 weeks after the in-person appointment, your Third-Party Admin will provide you with the genetic screening results in your nAble portal, including details on your carried genetic mutations that are relevant to your donor search.  The doctor may recommend speaking with a genetic counselor via the testing company depending on the details of your results.

Step 4 – Finalize Your Donor Search

Once you have your genetic testing results, you should seriously consider which egg donors you want to match with.  While we do recommend browsing our donor database right after signing up just to get a sense of what donors are available and what you are looking for in a donor, we don’t recommend sending us donors of interest until after your genetic results are complete. Once you’ve identified 2-3 donors you are excited about, email your Donor Match Coordinator at Hatch to verify availability, logistics and assist you in the overall matching process.

Step 5 – Donor Match

Step 6 – And We’re Off!

From this point forward your Donor Cycle Coordinator will work closely with the Third-Party Admin at PFCLA to coordinate all screenings and testing to prepare for the retrieval cycle. There is little for you to do at this point aside from review forms, sign paperwork, and receive updates from the team.
